Frank Ironside
Owner · Chair one
Third-generation barber. Took over the shop from his father in 1994. Fades by ear, scissor work by feel.
Mercer Street · Est. 1952
Four chairs, three barbers, and a radio that only plays one station. We have been cutting hair on this corner for seventy-four years — walk in, sit down, leave looking better.

Posted on the wall since 1952. The only thing that has changed is the number.
Most of our business is the door. If you would rather lock in a time — Saturdays especially — call the shop and we will write you in the book.

Owner · Chair one
Third-generation barber. Took over the shop from his father in 1994. Fades by ear, scissor work by feel.
Barber · Chair two
Fourteen years in the shop. Fastest straight shave on the street and the only one allowed to touch Frank's eyebrows.
Barber · Chair three
Trained downtown, came here for the quiet. Best scissor cut in the shop — book her two weeks out if you can.
The shop
The linoleum is original. So is the radio. What is not original: the disinfection protocol, the blades, and the fact that every barber here is licensed, insured, and has been behind a chair for at least a decade.
